The laser energy is delivered more slowly than the quick blast of previous versions of spider vein lasers, which caused blood vessels to rupture and resulting in bruising that lasted several weeks. With the new laser treatment, the vessels are treated over a longer period of time and therefore stay intact during treatment, which eradicates bruising.

Good candidates for spider vein laser treatment are patients who have light to medium skin tone and not tanned or recently exposed to the sun. Small spider veins and rosacea on the face can be effectively treated by laser. Large or varicose veins (blue in color) are not effectively treated by this method.
